Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)

Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)

Amblyopia is a form of poor vision, typically in one eye, caused when the brain and eye fail to work together effectively. The brain starts to ignore signals from the weaker eye. Treatment is most successful when started during early childhood.

Our Approach: We provide specialized assessments to diagnose the cause and implement tailored treatment plans, which often involve patching the stronger eye or using specialized glasses/drops to encourage the brain to use and strengthen the weaker eye.

Signs Parents Should Look For:

  • Closing or covering one eye frequently.
  • Tilting the head or having one eye that appears to drift inward or outward.
  • Difficulties with depth perception (e.g., being clumsy, or misjudging distances).
